Hi everyone. I'm in two mind about whether to move back to Oz again. My main worry would be about finding construction work in Perth. Does anyone know about the current state of the trade there? Any info would be great.

Hi there,

My hubbie is a tradie also, cabinetmaker/carpenter and we are hoping to go back to Perth. Have been keeping in contact with work colleagues over there, and they say things slowed down, big projects put on hold, but WA has some major projects starting in 2010, the Gorgon Gas Project and another project South of Perth (dont know the details off hand). When the people in the mines where laid off they came back to Perth making it tough workwise for everyone, but now things are picking up again, they are drifting back to the mines.

Well that is our feedback from some trusted friends in my hubbies field. Hoping by the time we get there, probably end of 2010 things will be alot more stable.
