Hi Shazza,
What kind of tempertures can you expect there in the summer on the Gold Coast?
We are hopefully going to Perth early next year. Waiting for our visas to come through, received an acknowlegement just this month so it will be a good few months before we hear anything. |

G'day Shazza, how are you settling into school. I'm sure at the moment you are finding things a bit strange but give it time.
Australians are mad keen on sport and my advice to you is to get involved in sporting activites and being on the Gold Coast you will have plenty of opportunities.
Australians are very friendly but in lots of cases you need to make the first move, so get out there amongst them and stir them up with some good old Irish humour which they appreciate.
My son lives in Brisbane and he prefers the hotter climate to Victoria, whereas I prefer the milder climate. Many retired people from the southern States head north to Queensland in June/July to escape the winter cold.
The Queenslanders refer to us as Mexicans because we are 'from south of the border'
I remember about ten years ago my wife and I were silly enough to visit my son and his family for Christmas in Brisbane and I remember the temp on Christmas day was 43%C!!!
Anyhow, enough of me rambling on, I'm sure you will enjoy your new life in Australia and who knows, you could be the Surf Champion of The Gold Coast.
Good luck and best wishes for the future. |

*************Hi Guys, I have just opened an Irish & British Store here in Brisbane and we have teamed up with the Australian Irish Support Centre and are organising a BBQ in Southbank on Saturday May 15th @ 2pm so everyone can get to meet more people and find out more about what support is here for you. Should be a great day, feel free to bring a few beers and chill and meet some nice people. A few of us met yesterday for the first time and had a great day!
Email me if you have any further queries and to let me know how many so we can track numbers! Spread the word too!
